Lil Wayne joined the rare company of Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and Lauryn Hill by becoming one of the few hip-hop acts to star in his own “MTV Unplugged” special. The Young Money chief stripped down his hits, performing with a live band before an intimate audience. The hour-long show included a cover of Tupac’s “Hail Mary,” the debut of “Nightmares of the Bottom” from Tha Carter IV, an acoustic spin on “Lollipop,” and Cory Gunz on “6 Foot 7 Foot.”
“It’s very intimate and they damn sure picked the right artist to do it with ’cause if you’re not a full artist, you can’t do an ‘Unplugged,’” Weezy told MTV News’ Sway. “You have to be a full circle artist, you have to have everything because it’s so intimate. If there’s any flaws, they will be spotted. So I suggest you be flawless.”
